Specifications
Specifications are documents that provide the details for an item.
For example, in a hospitality project, the guestroom headboards might be custom. The specification for the headboard might include the type of word that is to be used, what documents are required to ensure the wood is sourced from an environmentally approved source, how the wood is to be dried, what kind of glue is to be used, the type and size of nails… It is not uncommon for hospitality specifications to be 5 or more pages of text.
In addition to these details, the specification will typically include the name of the vendor, manufacturer, images, distributions, and technical drawings.
Residential design firms rarely create specifications, but DesignSmart's Condensed specification format might be of some interest to certain residential design firms.
