Selective Approvals
Overview
When you utilize “Selective Approvals” it means that your clients can pick and choose which items they want to approve and purchase from a proposal. Here are some pros and cons to allowing selective approvals:
Cons
- Clients might skimp on purchases, resulting in the final design not being what the designer envisioned.
- They could reduce the overall scope of the design project.
Pros
- They will allow clients to pick artwork and accessories that are highly subjective, allowing both you and your client an efficient method to get to the desired end result. These proposals will typically include multiple options so your client has options to select from.
Review
In System Settings > Client Portal tab, you will need to enter the typical reasons a client might want to hold off making a decision about an item, as well as typical reasons why they might reject an item. Your clients can always enter their own reasons, but having a predefined list like this could be helpful for everyone. S

In addition, on the same time you will want to select the item status that is assigned to items that are set to Maybe and Rejected.

Key Points
Here are some important points to keep in mind about proposals that allow Selective Approvals
- Your firm has to turn on this feature in System Settings.
- When you create a proposal, you indicate on the left side panel if the proposal will allow Selective Approvals. See image below.
- All the items on a Selective Approval proposal will automatically be set to Approved. The reason for this is that the assumption is that the client will approve most of the items and this will save the client some time.
- If the proposal you send to your client is Proposal #4 and it allows for selective approvals, then the items that the client approves will be moved to Proposal #4.1 and it will be marked Approved. The items that not approved will remain on Proposal #4. and it will be marked not approved.

Getting Started
Clients will need to click on Proposals on the dashboard, then on Review/Approve.

They will see a message stating that all items have been marked as approved and that they will need to manually change the approval status of each item individually.

Clients will then see all items on the proposal marked as Approved. They can click on the word Approved to change it to Maybe or Reject.

Maybe & Rejected - If your client selects one of these options, they will be prompted to enter a reason. This reason will then be emailed to the design firm's mailbox email address, added to the client portal tab in your system settings after they Finish the proposal.

Finishing a Proposal
Clients will then need to Finish their proposal by clicking Finish at the bottom of the proposal.

Finishing a Proposal
Clients will then need to click Finish at the bottom of the proposal. And then sign and approve the proposal.
