Importing Data From The Web Page
This first step in using the Companion is to click on the Import button.

A Look at the Companion
To the right is the Companion after the Import button is clicked. It is very important to use the Import button. This will allow the companion to grab all of the information it can from the web page.
As you can see, it has imported multiple images from the vendor's website. If it selects an image you do not want, just click on it to remove it from the entry.
Because we used the Import button the Companion was able to fill in some of the "Industry Standard" fields:
Vendor Name, Model #, Description, Vendor Description, Spec, URL, Cost, Website address
Not all websites are created equally, so the information the Companion is able to pull on import alone will differ.
Importing Vendors
Sometime you may come across situations where the Companion tells you that the vendor is not added to your contacts list after clicking the Import button.

This will happen whenever you are on a website and that vendor is not in DesignSmart. Here are the steps to quickly add the vendor to DesignSmart.
- Click Ok when you see the message above.
- Enter the vendor's name in the pink “Vendor Name” field (see below). You can enter additional contact information or you can do that later in DesignSmart.
- Click the Save Address button.
- That will refresh the screen so you'll need to click on the Import button again. This time the vendors name will appear and you can enter other data.
The next time you visit this site, you won't have to add the vendor's name as it will already be in DesignSmart.

When adding vendors from the Companion, it is not necessary to fill out all the vendor's information. You will still be able to update that in DesignSmart.
