Updating Item Statuses
About Item Statuses
Items in DesignSmart can be assigned to a user-defined status, and each status can be assigned a color for easy identification. Below is the Item Status list view that shows examples of typical statuses.
Only System Administrators can change or configure statuses. For more information, please see Item Statuses and Descriptions.

Setting Up Status To Update Automatically
In System Settings, you can configure when statuses are changed automatically based on an action. Below is a list of possible actions that could change the status of an item:
- When an item is placed on a proposal.
- When a proposal is approved, the status of the items on the proposal can be changed
- When a purchase order is created.
- When a purchase order is emailed.
- When an invoice is created.
- When an invoice is paid
For example, below is the Proposal Tab in the Paperwork Tab in System Settings. In the yellow box, you can see where the statuses are configured. For more information about how to set these statuses, please see Paperwork Tab in System Settings.

Changing the Item Status For a Group of Items
From the Items List View, you can click on Actions, then on Assign Status
(If you don't see the Assign Status listed in the Actions menu, please email Support@DesignSmart.Tech to request that it be added to your system.)
Changing the Item Status Manually
While it is more efficient to use one of the two methods listed above to change an Item Status, it is possible to change the status for individual items.
Below is a list of the locations where you can change the status of an item.
